Kava Strainer Bag

Sale price$14.95 NZD

Possibly the best kava strainer bag on the market. We've experimented with heaps of different strainers and we are confident that this food-grade filter bag is simply perfect: tough, durable, re-usable, easy to wash and convenient. Use it with fine, noble kava powder to make a potent and yet smooth, easy-to-drink kava beverage.

Specifications
Material: food-grade nylon mesh
Size: approx. 30 × 20 cm
Reusable and machine washable

Care
Wash after every use: for best results machine wash at 60°C (ideally with an eco-friendly, fragrance-free detergent), or simply hand wash with soap and warm water. Air dry. With this routine a bag lasts a long time. Replace it once the mesh shows wear.

How to use it

Traditional method: Add your kava to the bag and place it in an empty bowl. Pour cold or lukewarm water directly into the bag, let it sit for a few minutes to loosen the tougher fibres, then twist the top closed, press out the air, and knead the bag in the water for about 10 minutes, wringing it out regularly. Finish with a firm squeeze so no root particles escape into your beverage.

Blender method: We don't recommend it. Blending chops the fibres fine enough to pass through the bag, and our testing with Root and Pestle found it extracts less than kneading does. If you do blend, use cold water at 1g of powder per 15ml, blend for 2 to 3 minutes, then strain through the bag and squeeze thoroughly.

Best strainer I’ve ever used. I used a thick cloth previously to strain my kava but it didn’t allow the kava to seep through the fabric. However, this kava strainer is perfect! Best buy for strainers

Glad I got strainer bag along with Kava here. It’s indeed different from the other bag you can get out there. Won’t leak powder to the liquid.

Essential

If you're doing traditional prep you need one of these. Machine washable and makes a smooth grog every time. [Originally submitted via previous website]

Durable

Had mine for over a year, still in good condition. Wash after each use and it holds up well. [Originally submitted via previous website]

Works well but prefer natural materials

Functions perfectly, no issues there. I'd personally prefer a cotton or hemp option rather than synthetic. Works great though. [Originally submitted via previous website]

Better than cheesecloth

Was using cheesecloth before - messy. This is easier and the kava comes out smoother. [Originally submitted via previous website]

Does the job

It's a strainer bag. Works well. Still going after 4 months of regular use which is more than I can say for cheaper ones. [Originally submitted via previous website]
