Lalaga (meaning "to weave" in Samoan) was created by Pasifika women Torisse Laulu, Gabby Manu, Lauren Wepa, and Atelaite Mapa. It's built around talanoa – the Pacific practice of creating space for genuine dialogue and connection.
Four Shells, our partner kava bar in Auckland, introduced Lalaga to their customers and it quickly became popular with both new guests and regulars. The pairing makes sense: kava naturally encourages openness and relaxed conversation, while Lalaga provides thoughtful prompts that help those conversations develop depth. Both come from Pacific traditions that value authentic human connection over superficial chat.
How to Use
Groups typically start with Level 1 cards during their first shell, progressing deeper as the evening unfolds. Five levels let you match the conversation to your group's comfort – from light ice-breakers through to reflective questions. No scoring, no pressure. Just better conversations.
