A Classic Evening Kava: Gradual, Deeply Mellow, Grounding

One of the most popular kava cultivars in Vanuatu, Borogoru is prized for its balanced-heavy character and mellow profile. This classic evening kava is known for its slow, gradual onset and prolonged, complex character, a favourite among those who enjoy a deeper, more grounding kava experience.

Character: Balanced-heavy with a grounding body character and gradual mellowness, slower and deeper than heady varieties. Character builds gradually over 30-45 minutes and lasts considerably longer than lighter cultivars. Traditionally enjoyed in late afternoon or evening. A favourite for body refreshment after strenuous physical effort.

Taste & Aroma: Peppery and herbal with hints of sweetness. Flavour combines spice with fresh, grassy notes and bitter chocolate.

Traditional Grind Format: Peeled kava root ground into a medium-grind powder. Contains the root's indigestible fibres, so it needs to be kneaded and strained before drinking using a strainer bag.

Relaxing while being social

I really liked the effect: relaxing while being a bit social, more sedative after 2 or 3 hours. The kava took a long time to arrive in Europe but the effect was good. I didn't like the spicy side of this kava at the level of the tongue and especially of the stomach. It heats and stings as if I had consumed too much pepper. I'm probably a Fiji guy and not Vanuatu, but still enjoyed the effects. Originally posted on the Kava Forums

Balanced potent and superbly clean

A very balanced and potent kava, but where this one shines is its color and flavor. Never have I seen a lighter colored kava than this - almost milk. Smells almost like popcorn or wet leaves. Very unique and pleasant. The taste is equally pleasant without bitterness and sharp flavors normally found in Vanuatu kavas. Its color belies its strength. Classic sedating Borogoru - clean and highly drinkable

A classic sedating Borogoru, but distinctly clean and highly drinkable. Distinct Vanuatu style peppery/herbal scent with a hint of sweetness and cream. The flavor is zippy and peppery at first but dissipates quickly. Very appealing light creamy beige beverage color. The effects are very much an old school Borogoru style - on the heavier side. Very deeply soothing and sedating. Close your eyes and breath and you can feel yourself simply enjoying the peaceful calm. A wonderful natural remedy for anxiety/over thinking/insomnia.
